Granby is home to Lake Granby, the Colorado River and Fraser River. These systems run right through town, giving water enthusiasts a convenient place to stay when planning their next adventure. Granby Trails features two stocked fishing ponds during the summer months, so families can take the kids out to learn to cast a line or two.
Lake Granby, Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain Lake are all within close proximity of Granby town limits, and offer gold-medal fishing for the excitable angler. Various species of Rainbow, Brown, and Lake Trout can be found in our water systems, as well as Kokanee salmon. Stop by one of the local fishing shops for tips and gear – or contact the Granby Chamber of Commerce about connecting you with one of our well-seasoned fishing guides.
When the snow falls and the lakes turn into ice, ice fishing season begins. Whether you are an experienced angler or just interested in trying out the sport, ice fishing in Colorado can be a great way to get out and enjoy the scenery and fresh air during the winter.
If ice fishing is your thing, or you want to try it out, take a look at participating in the Annual 3 Lakes Ice Fishing Contests. The next contest will be the 32nd edition, taking place January 24, 25 & 26, 2020.
Visitors will often see water loving enthusiasts out on the middle of the lake on their own. Bring your paddleboards, kayaks and canoes out to play! No matter what season it is, come experience fishing surrounded by wildlife and all the beauty Granby has to show.
