Guided Trips

For first-timers, consider booking a trip with a local guide or outfitter. MAD Adventures offers options for all skill levels with their various half-day trips.

Their Upper Colorado rafting trip is a great family-friendly option and is perfect for those who want beautiful canyon scenery and easy-to-navigate whitewater. You’ll see spectacular wildflowers, sheer granite canyon walls, and forest of blue spruce and Douglas fir trees.

For a more challenging adventure, their Clear Creek intermediate rafting trip is a popular option. Experience the best of Clear Creek with a steady dose of fun and challenging rapids. This trip requires active paddling and participation as you navigate the river as a team.

For Experienced Rafters

Rafters congregate in Kremmling, a 30 minute drive from Granby, to enjoy spectacular whitewater challenges on the Colorado River. May through September is generally the best time to raft here, but the weather and level of snow-melt greatly impact the start and end of the season.

The Upper Colorado right outside of Kremmling offers easier float sections, while further west through Gore Canyon you’ll find intermediate and expert sections. There are also numerous places to camp along the banks of the river if you’re looking for a multi-day excursion. The recreation areas off of County Road 1 (also known as Trough Road) are popular for overnight camping, and you can put in at any of their boat ramps. Be sure to check the current conditions and classification of the river before you head out.

From the family-friendly class II and III whitewater of the Upper Colorado River to the class IV and V rapids in Gore Canyon, an adventure awaits for everyone in your party.
